Ka

$0.00

Short Story (Fantasy)

Excerpt: “It was Ka’s turn and she was terrified. Eagles aren’t supposed to be afraid of flying or heights. Looking over the edge of the nest, she could see the valley floor a thousand feet below. A gentle updraft ruffled her feathers and brought heat from the old granite mountain across her face. Ka’s heart beat so hard she thought it would burst. Her mother and brother had left some time ago and disappeared to the south. Her father patrolled the valley for the plentiful rabbits that provided most of their eagle diet.Ka was all alone. She stretched out her wings and instantly pulled them back, embarrassed for the display. She looked around to see if anyone noticed. Only Sun and Mountain watched.”
